Over the next six months, FAC will be hosting a School of Missions. There will be special missions events each month (featuring teaching, outreach, or a combination of both) beginning in May and culminating with our fall Missions Conference in October! Plan to be part of the FAC School of Missions this year. You will learn about the need for worldwide missions and how you can be involved!

The first School of Missions event was held on Saturday and Sunday, May 5-6, 2012, with Rev. Abe Sandler, CMA evangelist to the Jewish community and the Director of Awake O Israel Jewish Ministries. All who attended were incredibly blessed as we learned that Jewish people are not unreachable, they are just unreached! We need to remember they are first in the Great Commission!

In June, there will be several missions opportunities:

Saturday, June 9 – Work Day at Fellowship House in Camden, NJ

Saturday, June 23 – Annual Carnival at True Vine Church in Philadelphia, PA

On Saturday, June 9, 2012, we will meet at the church at 8:45 AM and travel to Fellowship House in Camden, NJ, a Christian ministry with a mission of helping to bring adults and children into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Fellowship House is a center for spiritual, moral, educational, physical, social, and recreational activities to help meet the many needs of the immediate community.

We will assist Fellowship House in several ways, including cleaning and preparing classrooms for the summer children’s program, working in the community garden, and performing other small maintenance tasks.

All members and regular attendees of FAC 16 years of age and older are invited to attend. Teens age 13-15 are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent. Please bring a bag lunch, a water bottle, and work gloves. Needed are drivers and coolers for the lunches. We should return to FAC by 4:00 PM.

All attendees must sign the Fellowship House Waiver and must agree to abide by their Code of Conduct. The deadline to register and submit the required forms to Judy Risser is Sunday, May 27. Please see Judy for forms or if you have questions or need more information. For more information on Fellowship House and their ministry. please visit their website at www.fellowshiphousecamden.org.

On Saturday, June 23, 2012, we will assist True Vine Church in Philadelphia with their annual carnival. True Vine is partnering with churches and local businesses to host their third annual FREE Community Carnival this summer! There will be free food, games, and a safe place for families and individuals to connect and have fun. It will be at the American Legion Park at the corner of Torresdale Ave. and Devereaux St.

FAC will be hosting a carnival game. Two shifts of people are needed, one for the morning and one for the afternoon. We also need drivers. Anyone Sr. High age and older can work at the booth. Please see Barbara Moran for more details and to register to help.

Stay tuned for more information on upcoming missions events! Lord willing, the Missions Committee would like to invite a representative from CAMA services; Paul Keidel, C&MA Mission 1:8 training leader; a representative from the Metro District office; and members from sister churches who have participated in missions trips. In September our own church team will report on their missions trip to Camichines, Mexico! Join us! Catch the fire! Spread the Word!!

On Saturday, May 12, 2012, there will be a Special Spring Victorian Afternoon Tea honoring all ladies, little ladies, mothers, daughters, and especially nurses. The tea will be held at Faith Alliance Church in Room 7-8 at 1:00 PM.

May 12 is the last day of National Nurses Week, and it is also the birthday of Florence Nightingale, perhaps the most famous nurse of all time! This lovely, relaxing afternoon of high tea will begin with a special visit from Florence Nightingale, who, continuing this month’s study on “compassion“, will regale us with stories about her life and her work as a nurse in England during the 1800s.

Please bring your own special china teacup to use at the tea! There is no charge for the afternoon, but a basket will be available for contributions to help defray the costs. Invite someone to attend with you – your mother, daughter(s), a special friend!
